JEDDITO CHAPTER
The Navajo name of Jádi tó (Antelope Water) was derived for nearby watering points which were frequently used by antelope. Most families living within the Jeddito “Island” are members of the extended families who were forcefully evicted from the old Hopi Reservation (District 6) in September and October of 1944. This marked the first mass relocation of Navajos determined to be living on the wrong side of the Navajo-Hopi boundary. The portion referred to as the “Island” is totally surrounded by the Hopi Partitioned Land within the Island we have Highland, Jeddito Valley, Sitting Rock, Gap, Skunk Spring and North Cedar Hill, . Another segments of the chapter land base is part of the main Navajo reservation on the Apache Country side known as Beshbito Valley, Gold Water Loop, Aspen Springs, White Top Valley and the Four corners area. The “island” part is situated exclusively in Navajo Country. While the other land base is specifically located in Apache County. March 25, 2025Operating Hours:
